PHOENIX, ARIZONA (April 19, 2012) In honor of Arbor Day, Tierra Madre Landscape Services, along with AZ Tree Mission, has partnered with Fletcher Heights Homeowners Association to plant trees within the community and at Frontier Elementary School. The Event will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at the school.

According to Donna Wood, President of Tierra Madre, “We created the AZ Tree Mission as a “green” program to help make up for some of the carbon generated by the gas powered equipment we use. Our primary mission as a landscaping company is to keep the exterior eco-system of communities attractive and healthy while protecting their investment. In keeping with Tierra Madre’s sustainability practices, we created the AZ Tree Mission as a carbon offset program that is beneficial, not only to our customers but, to everyone in the community.”

As cited by ACTC, “Trees in urban areas provide a number of important benefits. They help to clean the air, curb storm water runoff, raise property values, sequester carbon, and reduce energy costs.” Under the AZ Tree Mission, new and existing maintenance customers of Tierra Madre can be eligible to receive up to twelve free trees per year. The free trees may be planted within the community being maintained by Tierra Madre, or may be donated to a not-for-profit agency, municipality or educational facility within the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Jon Edwards, Landscape Chairman, and the Board of Directors of Fletcher Heights have chosen to donate one of the six trees being planted this season to Frontier Elementary School. Jon and the Board, on behalf of the Fletcher Heights community at large, believe that giving back to the school in their community is an excellent way to extend the spirit of Arbor Day. According to Jon, “We appreciate the AZ Tree Mission contribution. It is this type of partnership that develops a true sense of community and creates a solid foundation for the residents of our association and our town. Keeping our neighborhoods strong is the key to a great quality of life.” With this big vision for his neighborhood, Fletcher Heights and the City of Peoria, Jon has thrown his hat into the ring and is prepared for a more impactful leadership role by running for the Peoria City Councilperson this coming election.

The remaining five trees will be planted throughout the Fletcher Heights community with one tree dedicated to George Wheeler, long-time resident and board member, in honor of his many years of hard work and commitment to Fletcher Heights.

Tierra Madre is an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau, Peoria Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Landscape Contractors Association, International Society of Arboriculture and the Arizona Community Tree Council.
